The UTC, which is to be redeveloped on the existing Parkside School site at Park Avenue, Devonport, will specialise in the fields of marine engineering and advanced manufacturing, says cnplus.co.uk.

It will not only enhance Plymouth’s reputation as one of the country’s leading hubs for marine design, innovation and education, but also serve as a beacon of urban regeneration.

Re-cladding the retained areas of the existing buildings

Remodelling and reapplying wall cladding to a number of existing buildings is all part of BAM’s vision to make the area a more desirable place to live and study, says construction manager Graham Kingdon.

“To reinvigorate learning in this area of the city, we are remodelling and re-cladding the retained areas of the existing buildings as well as making a significant investment in new build,” he told theconstructionindex.co.uk.

The project, which is set to include “flexible teaching spaces, catering and dining areas and specialist science labs”, is BAM’s third success in Plymouth’s blossoming academic sector.

It has now secured more than £50 million worth of work by also winning contracts to build the Plymouth Marine Academy and Plymouth All Saints Academy.
