Colorcoat headlines at ACC Liverpool

1 March 2012 No Comment

It’s played host to some of the biggest pop and rock stars on the planet, and with £164m ploughed into its creation the award-winning Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) at the Kings Waterfront development in Liverpool’s historic dockside has certainly topped the charts as the entertainment hub of the North West.

Multi-talented building

Originally designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre to mark the city’s Capital of Culture status in 2008, the ACC had to be a multi-talented building, able to perform for different audiences using the extensive conference and exhibition facilities or the 11,000 capacity arena.

And centre stage to the unique design of the development – the only one of its kind in Europe to offer two interlinked venues – is Colorcoat HPS200® (now Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra®).

The Colorcoat range of pre-finished steel cladding was specified by the project architects not only because of its market-leading colour retention, but because of the durability demanded by building’s seafront location.

Colorcoat HPS200® offers unrivalled corrosive resistance, backed up by the Confidex® guarantee – making it the number one cladding choice for the development’s marine environment.

Defining landmark on the historic Liverpool waterfront

Colorcoat HPS200® (now Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra®) in Orion cover both the roof and the lower walls of the ACC, helping to create a building which is a defining landmark on the historic waterfront, sitting alongside the Albert Dock complex and the World Heritage Site.

Iconic building

The iconic building has already attracted world-famous acts. Stars including Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyonce have all graced the stage of the Echo Arena, whilst the BT Convention Centre which makes up the other half of the building is a unique setting for conferences due to its ability to be combined with the Arena, creating a huge 7,000m2 of space.

But no matter what goes on under its roof, there’s no doubt this building will be in the limelight for years to come thanks to the star qualities of Colorcoat®.
