Colorcoat® pre-finished steel has the monopoly on Old Kent Road at Southwark EFW
Architects Thorpe Wheatley have specified CA Group’s built-up roof and wall cladding systems; River-Therm® for the roof using Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® in Goosewing Grey and Twin-Therm® using Colorcoat Prisma® in Pegasus for the wall.
This choice of material provides the client, Veolia, with a Confidex® Guarantee for 40 years on the roof and 30 years on the walls protecting against excessive colour fade and cut edge corrosion. There is no requirement for annual inspection to maintain the validity of the guarantee, showing how Tata Steel is helping designers and contractors avoid the need for a get out of jail free card, and meet their CDM regulation responsibility to reduce work at heights and not put people at risk.
The construction of the plant, which will handle up to 87,000 tonnes of residual waste every year, has been awarded to FK Roofing, one of the UK’s leading roofing and cladding contractors. The chemical process which takes place inside the facility, not only means that the building envelope must meet specific acoustic and aesthetic requirements, but that the internal liner material must also be able to withstand resistance to the harsh environment.
Maximum corrosion resistance and extending the useful life of the building
In this case rather than a traditional liner sheet for the roof and wall the architect has specified Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® in Albatross to provide maximum corrosion resistance and extend the useful life of the building.
Colorcoat® pre-finished steel is 100% recyclable and is manufactured at the only steel site to have BES 6001 certification for responsible sourcing, complementing the focus of Energy From Waste sites to reduce landfill, increase recycling and reduce CO2 generated from fossil fuels. To ensure that the building envelope does the same use Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® or Colorcoat Prisma® as part of a Tata Steel supply chain partner roof cladding and wall cladding solution.
