Construction to begin on 225,000 sq ft Leeds office building
A 225,000 sq ft office building in Leeds has been approved by the council and work is soon to begin, reports yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.
The new structure is to be situated between Wellington Street and Whitehall Road and is part of the Central Square site. The plans were created by DLA Designs and show that the building will be 11 floors high. The middle section of the structure will only be eight floors high, but will link the two sides of the building. On top of the middle block will be an atrium and winter garden, reports constructionenquirer.com.
Central Square’s design will contribute to the city’s evolving skyline
Some 201,730 sq ft of the building will be dedicated to office space, whilst the sky garden will take up 9,800 sq ft. On the ground floor will be 19,500 sq ft of retail and leisure space. Office workers will be able to make use of a gym and several restaurants and bars. Moreover, there will be 128 parking spaces available.
Richard Thornton from property agent JLL says there are already a number of organisations interested in the new space.
“We are confident Central Square’s design will play a very important role in contributing to the city’s evolving skyline,” he states. “Without doubt this will be the most iconic building in Leeds for a number of years.”
