Contemporary Residential Roofing: The Achnasheen Project
Colorcoat Urban® was chosen by designer and home owner Michael Robbins as an answer to his roofing specification for this beautiful home in Achnasheen, Northern Scotland. Michael opted for colour Anthracite to blend with the vertical wooden cladding and picturesque surroundings, and he was delighted with the end result.
Michael was aware of the 40 year guarantee that Colorcoat Urban® provide, as well as the range of colours designed to fit with the urban vernacular, and so his key requirements for this project were that the roof provided a neat aesthetic, colour matched soffit and fascia detailing and allowed for the integration of roof lights.
Colorcoat Urban® have developed the system to capture more rain for water harvesting and to allow for the simple integration of photovoltaic and solar thermal technology. The great benefit of this for Michael is that if he wishes to add solar panels to the roof over the coming years, he can do so with limited penetrations to the roof itself. Effectively his roof is ‘future-proof’.
Colorcoat Urban® is a prestigious roofing solution, specified on social, private and residential projects, including new build and retro-fit. Some of the projects completed to date include houses, colleges, libraries and local stores, and in addition to this Colorcoat Urban® are currently undertaking work on the UK’s first zero carbon development ‘Hanham Hall’ in Bristol. This project meets Level 6 in the Code for Sustainable Homes and is being built by Barratt Developments.
