Corus unveils the new pre-finished steel collection by Colorcoat Prisma®

Cutting edge architecture demands striking lines, impactful colours and uncompromising quality. Corus Colors is providing all of this with the re-launch of Colorcoat Prisma® – its technically and aesthetically superior pre-finished steel that represents the ultimate combination of durability and aesthetic appeal.

During the five years since its original launch in the UK, Corus Colors has undertaken an extensive testing regime and ongoing consultation with architects and its supply chain to gain valuable feedback on Colorcoat Prisma®.  The result of this increased market knowledge has enabled Corus Colors to incorporate enhanced attributes to the product, enabling architects and designers to create beautiful, modern and durable building envelopes.

The new Colorcoat Prisma® keeps its well known smooth, robust finish. And in addition to this, Corus has introduced a new range of contemporary colours, from solids like oxide red, to metallics and matts, which retain their vibrancy while resisting corrosion and surpassing the requirements of the highest ultra violet and corrosion tests, Ruv4 and RC5 respectively, tested to EN 10169:2009. Matt colours have been chosen to replicate more traditional materials such as terracotta, slate and weathered copper – making them ideal for variety of applications including church roofs and contemporary rainscreens.

In addition to Ruv4 and RC5, Corus’s intensive testing regime has enabled Colorcoat Prisma® to meet a wide variety of approvals, including 40 year BBA certification, WRAS approval for cold water use, as well as IEC 61646 approval as a substrate for photovoltaic laminate. A hugely versatile product, Colorcoat Prisma® can adapt to any building type, providing consistent and unbeatable quality and reliability.

The reliability of Colorcoat Prisma® is further demonstrated through extended Confidex® Guarantee periods – which include an extra 15 years on coastal roofs. Confidex® now covers the external skin of a roof and wall cladding for up to 30 years. Delivering many health and safety benefits, such as no requirement for maintenance or inspection to maintain its validity. What’s more, in the unlikely event that any problems occur, Corus will carry out repairs and pay full remedial costs.

Peter Barker, Product Development Manager, Corus Colors, comments:

“We undertook a series of workshops with architects and colour specialists that resulted in us extending the standard Colorcoat Prisma® range to include 12 solid, 12 metallic and 3 matt colours. The new range encapsulates current architectural colour trends and ensures the demands of contemporary and architecturally challenging projects can be met.”

“We hope that designers will find the new Colorcoat Prisma® range inspirational. It allows more freedom in design, and all parties involved in build programmes will have one less thing to worry about knowing that we have all the certification to back our test results and our guarantee.”

As part of the re-launch, Corus Colors hosted a European wide balloon release to mark the event on the 25th June 2010.  Illustrating the global reach of Colorcoat Prisma®, the balloons were released at 10am GMT in six locations in the UK, and in six other European locations.

Style and quality never go out of fashion, so nor will the new collection by Colorcoat Prisma®.
