Kalzip High Performance in Colour

Kalzip High Performance Colours

  1. What are HPC colours and what does it stand for?

The High Performance Colour system (or HPC) is a further development of existing coatings based on polymer resin and distinguished by ageing-resistance and colour stability. The extremely high UV-resistance makes the new colours particularly suitable for usage in tough weather conditions. Kalzip offers a 15 year guarantee for ageing resistance and colour stability in the High Performance Coating.

  1. Why have they been developed?

There is a current trend for matt finishes within the architectural community; with HPC we can achieve a gloss level of between 3% to 80% depending on colour.

  1. What applications are they suitable for and what Kalzip products can they be applied to?

The coating system can be applied to all Kalzip profiles and is becoming increasingly popular for both cladding and envelope applications and indeed our Kalzip FC rainscreen system!

  1. What are the standard colour options and lead times?

In this range a total of 6 new colours are available exclusively from Kalzip, these are:

  • Iceberg white
  • Sea green
  • Mediterranean blue
  • Light brown
  • Dark grey
  • Aluminium grey

Delivery times and availability depends on the profiles and dimensions and is as follows once the order has been clarified.

Standard profile/dimensions – 5-6 weeks.  Non standard profile/dimensions – 8-10 weeks.  However, shorter delivery times are available upon request.

  1. Are any other colours available to the standard pallet?

Yes. In addition to the exclusive colours, you can also select from an infinite range of colours providing the associated RAL, NCS or other colour system code is provided. The selected colour can also be sampled upon request.

  1. What is the colour performance rating?

HPC pre-painted aluminium sheets offer an outstanding corrosion resistance thanks to the coil-coating technology.

The ageing resistance of paints is defined by a rating. Every paint starts with a rating of 10. The heavier the ageing, the lower the value. After 15 years, the Kalzip HPC coating system has a value of ≥ 8, which is described as very good or barely visible. The same applies for colour stability. The value for this is < 5ΔE and thus indicates outstandingly stable behaviour.

HPC does not only present a very high resistance to ageing, to UV and corrosion but is also efficient against chalking and is adapted to every kind of climate.

  1. Do Kalzip’s HPC finishes come with a guarantee?

Yes. Kalzip offer a unique and extended guarantee of 15 years with these finishes. The guarantee is valid in Europe and applies to;

  1. Kalzip profiles in all widths
  2. Kalzip sinusoidal and trapezoidal profiles
  3. Kalzip FC rainscreen panels
  4. Kalzip flat sheets and coils.
