Perfect End Laps on every Trisomet® panel through introduction of water jet cutting
At Tata Steel we listen to our customers. Shortly after receiving feedback that the traditional manufacturing technique of cutting and breaking panels at the external lap was causing work on site, as illustrated below, we started work on developing a solution to help improve the speed of installation and consistency of joint fit.
The solution was found with the addition of a water jet cutter within the panel cutting operation. This £50,000 investment uses a high pressure water jet that passes through the gap left by the circular saw and is able to follow the shape of the trapezoidal profile. The pressure of the jet is controlled so that it produces a clean cut through the foam but does not impact on the steels painted surface to the underside of the end lap. The high pressure of the jet atomises the water which leaves the lap dry.
This new manufacturing technique produces a clean cut every time and eliminates additional work required on site to produce a perfect joint.
This manufacturing technique is now offered as standard on all Trisomet® panels from Tata Steel.
