Sustainable solution where longevity and durability are imperative
Tata Steel has announced the launch of a revised range for Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® pre-finished steel for roof, wall and metal cladding.
Subjected to comprehensive natural and accelerated testing, the super durable colours within the Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® range enable a sustainable solution for building envelope developments where longevity and durability are imperative.
The Super Durable properties of Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra®
The range is backed up with even more proven properties such as excellent solar reflectance. Such a benefit minimises heat gain indoors and the energy consumption required in order to cool the building, as well as reducing the urban heat island affect by lowering outdoor temperatures.
With the product subject to extreme testing for use in demanding environments, both external and internal, it is now classified as a CPI5 product. Which is the highest classified level of corrosion protection for internal environments.
In conjunction the Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® range already surpasses Ruv4 and RC5 as per EN10169: 2010, the highest corrosion and UV resistance classifications, ensuring the super durability and performance of this product.
Dr Peter Barker, Product Development Manager at Tata Steel, comments:
“Today’s Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® is the result of continuous development and improvement over 50 years. With advanced polymer technology we are able to deliver products that are innovative and enhanced to meet the demands of an evolving industry.”
Leading topcoat and pigment technology has lead the way in improvements in both colour performance and choice. The revised range, which has been available since the start of 2012 is now available in 40 Colours, 20 signature colours, 15 classic colours and extended new matt colours.
Dr Barker added:
“We have created a suite of new literature including a revised technical brochure to help industry secure the greatest benefit from using the product.”
Sustainability is a high priority for Tata Steel and this is embedded in the development, manufacture and support of Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra®.
The product is manufactured at the Tata Steel site at Shotton, North Wales. This is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, meaning that site operations are managed without compromising biodiversity. There are several strategies for CO2 reductions on the Shotton site, including a move from road to rail for all feedstock coming from Tata Steel in South Wales.
BES 6001 responsible sourcing certification
Gaining independent endorsement by achieving BES 6001 responsible sourcing certification demonstrates Tata Steel’s commitment to producing materials in a sustainable way but also allows those within the construction industry the ability to achieve their own sustainability targets easily and whilst attaining those all important credits in sustainability assessment tools such as BREEAM.
Ensuring the super durability and performance of this product
Covered for up to 40 years by Confidex® the most comprehensive product performance guarantee with no annual inspection or maintenance to validate the guarantee.
This longevity results in mimised emissions during the building’s life, thereby avoiding the additional emissions generated by products, which require in-service maintenance and repair or replacement.
