The €38m purpose-built AFAS Stadion, by Zwarts & Jansma Architects, is certainly eye-catching. Panels of red and black Colorcoat Prisma® are streaked across the 25 metre-high exterior, whilst inside the stadium’s stand design means home and away fans get a clear view of the action no matter where they sit, with its 17,000 seats close to the pitch and focused on the centre spot for the ultimate match experience.

The new state-of-the-art stadium is certainly a big promotion for the Eredivisie League club from its previous home, the Alkmaaderhout, which only had capacity for around 9,000 fans. Although primarily the home of AZ, AFAS Stadium – named after the club’s sponsor – is multipurpose and is used to host various events.

With a façade as striking as this, it definitely fulfils its goal of being a championship home for the AZ team. And it’s set to have a home advantage for many seasons to come thanks to Colorcoat®’s unrivalled corrosive-resistance and colour-retention properties, backed by its unique Confidex® 40-year guarantee.

It’s a winning combination which has led to Colorcoat® products being specified in stadiums across the UK and Europe, making it the premiership product for modern stadium development.
